RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Nevada 150 Planning Committee has named Scott Carey the events and community relations manager of Nevada’s Sesquicentennial celebration.
The yearlong celebration is set to launch on October 31, 2013 (Nevada Day) culminating on October 31, 2014.
Carey joins the committee with over 12 years of experience in economic development and tourism experience, working within the state, county, city and tribal levels of government throughout Nevada. During Carey’s most recent position as tribal planner of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, he developed award-winning tourism program and economic development plans that created record revenue for the Tribe.
In 2005, he served on the Sparks Centennial Commission for the city’s 100th birthday, where he was appointed by former Sparks Mayor Tony Armstrong. Carey continues to support his hometown and preserve its history as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Sparks Heritage Museum.
Carey will oversee the calendar of events for the Nevada Sesquicentennial celebration, and conduct outreach throughout Nevada communities to get people involved in the celebration. For more information about NV 150 visit www.nevada150.org
