RENO, Nev. (KRNV & Mynews4.com) -Over 200 boys in the area are expected to particpate in the annual Scoutreach Pinewood Derby Championships on March 16 in Reno.
This year's event will take place at the Boys and Girls Club at 2680 East 9th Street and will feature games and skill demonstrations hosted by local Scouts. Races start at 9:30 a.m. and the Awards and recognition portion of the event starts at 1 p.m.
The Pinewood Derby is a Cub Scout event designed to teach young boys skills at building cars, which are raced down an inclined track. The boys learn to work with wood, construct their racing cars, paint and decorate the cars, and then enjoy the excitement of watching their car compete against others.
