RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) --Search and rescue crews from the Reno Fire Department, Reno Police, and a Careflight helicopter have ended their search for a man who was seen in the river near Downtown Reno. According to battalion Chief Rik Kajans with the Reno Fire Department, a call came in from witnesses saying they saw a man in the water near the Arlington Street bridge. According to witnesses, the man did not appear to struggling or swimming, he was laying in the water being transported by the current.
Crews searched all along the river from Downtown to the Kuensli Street Bridge where the current stops, but were unable to locate the man. According to Chief Kajans, due to the fact that the river water is extremely cold this time of year, it is unlikely that a person would be able to survive if submerged for an extended period of time. Kajans' says it is possible that the man exited the river without being seen.
