RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- You're probably familiar with the rock band Guns and Roses, but what do you know about Guns and Hoses?
Staff from the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District picked up their golf clubs in the fight against cancer. The second annual Guns and Hoses golf tournament was Monday to benefit the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation.
84 golfers teed off at the Hidden Valley Country Club, and used some of their vacation leave to give back to the community. "All we want to do is have a successful event," said Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek. "Raise a little money for a great organization and try to help out families in need."
"It's so wonderful just because we have families from both departments that have been afflicted by this ugly disease," added NNCCF Executive Director Debbie Strickland. "So it's wonderful that they know first hand what this looks like and that they support us so we can continue supporting the community."
As each group of four teed off on the first hole, they wore gear from the opposing agency. Sheriff's staff wore protective fire gear and fire district staff suited up in swat gear.
