Nevada Senator Harry Reid today called federal and local officials about potential serious flooding in the Reno-Sparks area this weekend due to storms threatening the region.
“Today I spoke with federal and local officials about potential floods in the Reno-Sparks area this weekend,” said Reid. “I am closely monitoring the incoming storm and have asked FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers that they watch it closely and be prepared for the worst. In my conversation with Assistant Secretary of the Army Jo-Ellen Darcy, I urged fast action on the Truckee Meadows Flood Control Project and said that any future delays would be unacceptable. I told Governor Sandoval and local officials to notify me immediately if they need assistance. I ask all Nevadans to be alert, heed the advice of first responders and local officials, and most importantly stay safe.”
