Senior Fest to provide independent living resources

RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Senior Fest is back for its 19th year -- providing a one-stop event for senior services, businesses and organizations.

Senior Fest returns to Reno Town Mall, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with over 55 businesses and organizations providing resources and information on services that assist seniors to live independently. Those participating in Senior Fest do so to connect with providers in the community that offer materials on caregiving, Medicare, Social Security, health care and a variety of services that promote healthy aging.

Boomers who are uninsured or under-insured can take part in health screenings offered by Senior Care Plus and Renown health as early as 8 a.m. Health screenings will be also provided regardless of a personal insurance. Free flu and pneumonia shots will be available as long as supplies last.

There will also be a preview of the Eldorado’s Showroom entertainment “Spectra” coming in August. Erika Paul and the Swingin Jazzkats will entertain with jazz classics.

Free parking will be available at the mall, as well as the Atlantis Parking Lot. A shuttle service will also be provided by Lakeside Manor and The Arbors Memory Care Community.
