MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — Officials with the Tahoe Douglas Sewer Improvement District are denying accusations that they haven't released employee salary records to a conservative Nevada think tank.
The Nevada Policy Research Institute filed a lawsuit in state court in Minden on Wednesday accusing the sewer district and its general manager Janet Murphy of failing to comply with the Nevada Public Records Act.
The institute wants to post the payrolls on its website, TransparentNevada.com.
The lawsuit says all government agencies are required to respond to a request for public records within five business days, but that district officials have ignored the institute's requests since April.
Murphy told The Associated Press on Friday that her agency has released the records, and she said she was surprised by the lawsuit.
