FERNLEY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) - The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has taken reports in Fernley regarding candy bars that had foreign items pushed into them.

Although it appears that the majority of reports are coming from the Southwest Meadows area, parents are reminded to check their children's candy carefully before allowing them to eat it regardless of where they obtained it. An investigation is currently underway.

This sick behavior has been going on since I was in Jr High School in California. One of my neighbors was only 5 yrs old and she got a fish hook in her popcorn ball, and another child a year or two older got a razor in his/her apple. Since then there are even more reports coming out about drugs being shot via needles into the candy through the wrapper. Please, protect your children and not only check the candy, but be very certain that the wrappers have no pin size holes in them as well. Make the extra trip to X-ray the candy before allowing the kids to eat a bit. Be safe on the holiday season everyone also be extra vigilant during this time.
