ALTURAS, Calif. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Four people are dead and two others injured as the result of a shooting inside an American Indian Tribal Headquarters on Thursday.

Police say 44-year-old Sherrie Rhoades is in custody in Modoc County Jail after allegedly opening fire. Police say tribe members were holding a meeting about evicting Rhoades and her son from the Rancheria tribe. After running out of ammunition, Rhoades reportedly grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed another person.

The two wounded people are being treated at a local hospital, and autopsies of those killed are scheduled for Friday.

Alturas is about 100 miles north of Susanville.
