Finally seen a gang unit patrolling area tonight. What's the point if they only do their job when someone gets killed. This area and all the houses in it are tagged and have been getting more and more so every day. There is a police substation right near the shooting. Why have one? They are there only a few hours, a few times a week. Several months ago I ran into someone having a seizure in the streets, I ran to the substation and knocked. Police were in there, their cars idling in the parking lot, they looked at me and pointed towards their sign with the hours listed on it. They never answered. Slack on funding? What are we talking about here? The only time we see police in this neighborhood is when they are doing activity or shift change and driving into that substation. You see them leaving and drive right out of the neighborhood. Maybe if they paid attention to what's going on in their own backyard, that kid may still be alive.

We cannot slack on our Public Safety. It must now be a top priority. We must not cut back on funding and supporting our local law enforcement officers and firefighters who work the streets to protect the good and descent families living near this park and in all our neighborhoods.
