RENO, Nev. (KRNV & - Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley confirmed Reno’s VA hospital on Kirman Avenue has received threats following yesterday’s shooting at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Sheriff Mike Haley said, “Our office is currently working on a phone call we received that indicated the VA may be targeted.” He said, “We are trying to trace the caller down. We’ve notified the VA and told them what we knew to let them know they need to be vigilant to any approaches they might receive.”

Darin Farr, Public Affairs Office with the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System said they believe the caller is someone who has received treatment at the facility adding , “ We have a veteran who is not very happy with the care he has received.” Farr said, “He actually phoned into the US Attorney’s Office and was expressing his displeasure and made the verbal threats that they took seriously and passed on to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department. Farr said the facility’s has its own police department, “The authorities informed us, our police department here, so we could take the proper precautions, but it is nothing that would disrupt business as usual at the VA.”

Sheriff Haley said the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department has a team working to find this individual as they are taking the threats very seriously.

Article says the Sheriff's Office is trying to "contract" the individual. Wonder what they are going to contract him to do? Journalism is not a profession.

With SOME of the veterans I know, this shooter could end up needing the medical facilities there to remove the gun from where the Veterans "install" it.

Why would someone try to do this when there are armed Reno PD always there? Who ever it is must be jumping on a bandwagon.

Not to worry. There are signs at all entrances to this facility prohibiting firearms and other weapons (18 USC 930). Everyone will be saved by the signs!
