RENO, Nev. (KRNV & -- A new casino is opening in downtown Reno for the first time in more than a decade.

After years of planning and months of work, Siri's Casino is open.

"It's fantastic," said owner Jeff Siri. "The last nine weeks have been a lot of fun, but also a lot of work."

The new casino features more than 100 slot machines, a snack bar and a full bar.

"The atmosphere is just spectacular," Siri said. "It's based on a South Miami Beach, Florida theme."

What's a better drink for the beach than a daquiri? Siri's has nine flavors.

"You can take any one of these nine and you can combine it with any one, so we have 81 flavors if you combine things," he said.

Siri said their decorations also mimic what you'd see in Miami, with a mermaid fountain taking center stage.

"We have statues in cases throughout the location," he said.

While the grand opening will celebrate his casino, Siri said it's a milestone for the city too.

"Siri's is the first casino to open in downtown Reno since 1995 when the Silver Legacy opened," he said.

He hopes more casinos will follow his lead.

"The more lights, the more activity in downtown Reno the better it is for Reno and for this economy in general," Siri said.

The grand opening celebration is Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. It's open to the public and there will be hors d'ouevres and drink samples until 5 p.m

Casinos suck.Time for them to serve drinks in plastic cups.Tired of the broken glass and beer bottles littering the down town area.
