DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The man accused of trespassing and video taping high school girls in Douglas County during track meets was sentenced to six months in jail on Thursday.

"In my opinion, the only fair sentence here is to lock you up as long as I can, and that's going to operate as a deterrent, because our children need to be safe and secure in public activities."

59 year-old Rodney Milton Skan was given the maximum penalty. He pleaded guilty back in May.

After the sentencing, News 4 spoke with the prosecution about the outcome of the case. "Unfortunately for the victim, no supervision leaves us very unprotected," said Douglas County Deputy District Attorney Maria Pence. "Hopefully the other counties will follow up and he will be placed on supervision."

Skan has been banned from Douglas, Carson and Washoe County school district events.
