SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) — South Lake Tahoe Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a DUI-related crash at the lake over the weekend.

Police say 51-year-old John Carleton of South Lake Tahoe was struck by a car on Lake Tahoe Boulevard about 6:45 p.m. Friday.

The Tahoe Tribune reports the car driver, 49-year-old Gregory Stearns of South Lake Tahoe, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and on a suspended license.

The newspaper says police are investigating whether the victim also may have been intoxicated. Some witnesses reported he may have crossed the highway outside of a crosswalk, wearing dark clothing in an unlit portion of the road.
