LAS VEGAS (AP) — Southwest Gas is hoping to push rates up a bit in Clark County, and lower them slightly in northern Nevada.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the proposal would help the company increase its southern Nevada revenue by $1.8 million per year, while it decreases by an estimate $11,000 per year in northern Nevada.

The utility says the average residential customer in Clark County who uses 19 therms in the summer months would see a 10-cent increase in their monthly bill. During the winter, that average customer would see their bill rise by 31 cents.

Northern Nevada customers wouldn't see a rate change in the summer, but the average customer would see a one-cent drop in winter months.

The Public Utilities Commission has scheduled a prehearing conference on July 11.
