SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Sparks City Attorney and the City’s Licensing Division have spearheaded a revision to the City’s business license ordinance, approved at today’s Sparks City Council Meeting. The measure does not increase business license fees.
The City of Sparks says all businesses will continue to receive a 30-day grace period on the renewal of their license. However, after the grace period expires, the following penalty structure will be in effect:
31 – 60 days past duePenalty assessed will be 25% of the delinquent amount
61 – 90 days past duePenalty assessed will be 50% of the delinquent amount
91 – 120 days past due Penalty assessed will be 75% of the delinquent amount
121 – 150 days past duePenalty assessed will be 100% of the delinquent amount
151 – 180 days past duePenalty assessed will be 125% of the delinquent amount
If a business continues to operate after their business license has expired, or is operating without ever obtaining a license, a cease and desist order will be issued and criminal charges may be filed against the business, according to Sparks City Council.
