SPARKS, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Homeowners in Sparks may be looking at a property tax increase next fiscal year.

The City Council voted to prepare the 2015 budget with the maximum rate allowed by law of $3.66 per 100 dollars of assessed value. The potential plan also includes an increase to the city's garbage franchise fee.

Final approval is expected at a special Sparks City Council meeting on May 20.
