SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Sparks Police have arrested a man for a strong arm robbery this morning in the Rail City parking lot.
The incident happened this morning around 8:40. The investigation determined that a 72-year-old elderly female had just exited the casino and was walking through the parking lot to her car, when the suspect, Robert Arthur Sheline, followed the victim out of the casino and approached her from behind. Sheline then forcefully removed the purse from the victim's arm and ran northbound through the parking lot.
Witnesses James McCormick and Francisco Villasenor were in the area and quickly began to pursue Sheline. At one point, they caught Sheline but he fought with them and got away. The witnesses chased and ultimately caught and detained Sheline in the 2100 block of Prater Way.
A Sparks Police Officer arrived on scene and attempted to detain Sheline. Police say Sheline continued to be uncooperative and struggled with the officer but was handcuffed and arrested.
The victim's purse and all of its contents were recovered. Sheline was booked for Strong Arm Robbery and his bail was set at $20,000.00
The Sparks Police Department would like to formally thank James McCormick and Francisco Villasenor for stepping up and assisting an elderly citizen in a time of need.
