SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) – The Sparks City Council has selected Stephen W. Driscoll as the next City Manager. He will succeed Shaun Carey, who has held the position since 2000.
Driscoll joined the City of Sparks in 1994 and was appointed to his current position of Assistant City Manager in 2000. His duties have included the daily operations of the city’s functional departments including Community Services, Parks and Recreation, Fire and Police Departments. He has specific management oversight of contract administration, emergency management, grant administration, human resources, labor relations and risk management.
“Steve Driscoll is a proven leader who has been a heartbeat away from the position of City Manager for more than a decade, and is well-equipped and suited to lead the City organization, and tackle the challenges that lie ahead,” said Sparks Mayor Geno R. Martini.
Prior to his work in local government, Mr. Driscoll held management positions in national companies in the retail, manufacturing and technology sectors. He is a fourth generation Nevadan, and graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a degree in accounting and holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Steve and his wife Carol live in Sparks and have two adult sons, Sean and Christopher.
