SPARKS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Sparks Police are currently working a traffic accident involving a pedestrian at 9th and C Street in Sparks that left one woman in the hospital with serious injuries.
Officials received the call at 3:02 a.m., and found the pedestrian unresponsive in the street just east of the intersection upon arrival. The driver of the vehicle that struck her was also on scene.
Initial reports say the female was crossing 9th Street at C Street northbound in the crosswalk, when the vehicle hit her. The vehicle was a 1990 GMC Van, and the driver said he did not see the pedestrian before hitting her.
The victim, a 49-year-old Sparks resident, was transported to Renown with serious head injuries, where she is currently on life support. Sparks Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor with the driver of the van, and it is too early in the investigation to know if any charges will be issued in this accident. No further information is available at this time.
