OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Two skiers are being treated for minor injuries after an avalanche at Squaw Valley on the KT-22 peak, according to Squaw Valley Public Relations Manager Amelia Richmond.
Richmond says three snowboarders triggered the inbounds, post-control avalanche at 9:50 a.m.
Several ski patrollers were on-scene within one minute after a ski patroller riding the lift line and several witnesses reported the avalanche.
Both skiers were conscious and neither was buried by snow. They were transported to Squaw's medical clinic for treatment.
One skier, a 39-year-old female, is already released from the clinic. The second skier, a 16-year-old male, is being treated for a shoulder injury and is at Tahoe Forrest Hospital in Truckee for observation.
Squaw conducted a full search and confirms no other people were involved.
They used a beacon search, RECCO search, and multiple probe line searches, and more than 100 staff and volunteers, and seven avalanche rescue dogs, searched the affected terrain.
Richmond confirms that all guests and staff riding the KT-22 chairlift are accounted for.
