Squaw Valley resident dies in skydiving collision

ACAMPO, Calif. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Squaw Valley residents are mourning the loss of one of their beloved skiers on Tuesday. Big Mountain Free Skier Tim Dutton has died in what is being described as a skydiving accident.

According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at a parachute center in Acampo on Tuesday, when Tim and another skydiver collided in mid-air. Dutton lost consciousness in the collision, and was unable to pull his parachute before reaching the ground.

The other skydiver in the collision suffered leg injuries.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
