RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- VSP vision care and Saint Vincent are teaming up to help the homeless get free eye exams.

They'll be giving free eye exams and glasses prescriptions to the homeless and residents living in poverty Thursday. News 4 spoke with Program Director Sandra Carrillo, who expressed how important it is to help people who need it.

"We have a lot of clients come in contact with our outreach that aren't able to apply for jobs, aren't able to drive or get their driver's license...they can't even fill out paperwork for services because they're unable to see," Carrillo said.

Three eye doctors and two VSP mobile eye clinics will be seeing patients at Saint Vincent's downtown campus on 500 East 4th St.
