Star Spangled Sparks to offer fireworks and more

SPARKS, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The Nugget’s 2013 fireworks show in Sparks will be the biggest fireworks show in the Northern Nevada area.

The fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:45 p.m., depending on the weather.

For safety reasons, please leave dogs, barbecues, and glass containers at home.

Park and Ride Shuttle Service
Complimentary shuttles will provide round-trip transportation from Legends to the RTC Centennial Plaza at Victorian Square during the event. Shuttles will pick up guests in the large dirt lot between Fuddruckers and Popeye’s starting at 6 p.m. Shuttles will run continuously throughout the event until after the fireworks show.

Kids’ Area
Children will delight in the face painters, clowns and magicians roaming the square, as well as an array of rides and activities. The kids’ area will be located on Victorian Plaza, adjacent to Century Theatres, and will include games, a super slide and mechanical rides. Ride tickets will be available for purchase just outside the Kids’ Area.

KKOH Simulcast
The fireworks show will be broadcast live with music over KKOH News Talk 780. Tune in to hear music corresponding with the fireworks.

Entertainment
Live music from the main stage (located toward the West End of Victorian Avenue) will keep the crowd dancing into the evening. The Buddy Emmer Band will be providing live entertainment from 5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Nick Sorrentino will be singing the National Anthem prior to the start of the fireworks show. The fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:45 p.m., depending on the weather.

Sparks Summer Heat Car Show
The Sparks Summer Heat Car Show is a new addition to this year’s Star Spangled Sparks Celebration in Victorian Square. The car show will go from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee, and proceeds will go to the Honor Flight program, which takes local veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials.

Enter your most patriotic Instagram photos in our contest on the John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort Facebook page, using the hashtag #patrioticsparks, and the online entry form. Contest runs from 5:00 p.m. on July 3rd through 5:00 p.m. on July 7th. One winner will receive dinner for two at The Steakhouse Grill, and a one-night stay at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in a Luxury East Tower Room!

This years fireworks was a total disappointment. The music over shadowed the firework. Id was ridicules how loud it was. The whole purpose of fireworks is to hear the fireworks. I will never attend there display again.
