CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Members of the board overseeing Nevada's health insurance exchange were surprised and annoyed to learn of problems still plaguing the state's online insurance portal.

The problems came to light Thursday after one man told the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange board that he selected a policy to purchase but repeatedly had his credit card rejected. Christopher Thompson also says his many attempts to contact someone by phone or email went unheeded.

With less than two weeks in the open enrollment period for consumers to have health coverage by Jan. 1, some board members say the snags and response by the contractor that designed Nevada's online insurance portal are unacceptable.

Xerox State Healthcare was awarded a $75 million contract to design and implement the state's exchange and call center support operations.
