The Strawberry Music Festival at Yosemite National Park could be closing its curtain for the second straight year.

A grassroots campaign to bring the popular music festival back to the area may be a last ditch effort.

Reno based band Buster Blue was featured at the festival two years ago.

Band singer and songwriter Bryan Jones says the event is surreal.

“The entire festival you feel like you are asleep and you are dreaming,” says Jones. “It is beautiful, there’s beautiful people, it’s just unlike any festival I’ve ever played since.”

The bluegrass festival happens at Camp Mother which is run by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks district

Officials for the agency denied a permit for this year’s concerts.

Strawberry Festival organizers say water supply and forest condition concerns from last year’s rim fire led to the permit falling through.

Show runners did not respond to News 4 inquiries today but are urging festival goers to contact park officials to reconsider the decision.

Jones says the news is devastating.

“The location is perfect. If they could make it work again I would love to see that but just the sense of the community, there’s nothing like it with any festival I’ve ever been to before.”

The four day event was also cancelled last year when the rim fire ignited two weeks before the August 29th kickoff.
