SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. ( & KRNV) - "The school is taking administrative action," said Washoe County School District Police Chief Mike Mieras. Mieras confirms a15 year old boy at Spanish Springs high school was suspended last week for words he wrote in a song. . "He indicated in lyrics inappropriate stuff; harm that he potentially would like to cause the school," said Mieras.

The suspension happened before Friday's mass shooting but since then rumors of this student’s suspension have spread. "We have had a handful of parents call the school today," said Spanish Springs high school Principal Tasha Fuson.  Fuson says after what happened in Connecticut the rumors of what this student wrote have caused concern. Now administrators are trying to get to the bottom of the rumors. "We've talked to several students.  Asking them, 'what are you saying, what are you hearing?' We are being proactive instead of reactive," she said.

According to school police, an investigation was conducted and at this time the student is not considered a threat. "We have criteria we follow to determine one, is there legitimate threat to the school, a threat to themselves or to others? Do they have the means to carry it out? In this case that did not line up," said Mieras.

Mieras says as a parent, if his child was a student at Spanish Springs he would send his child to school. "I work in the system and I trust in the system," he said.

As of today the student remains suspended.  The school would not say when or if he would be returning soon.
