RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Anthony Nelson has been identified as the suspect in the Washoe Valley double homicide.

Under Sheriff Tim Kuzanek said investigators believe Nelson is the man who shot and killed a 68-year-old female at a home in Washoe Valley. He's also believed to have shot and injured the woman's husband, who received minor wounds and is said to be recovering.

The couple was checking on the welfare of a 70-year-old woman who lives at Leo Bingo court in Washoe Valley. Investigators arrived to find the elderly woman dead at the residence from what was later determined as stab wounds.

As News 4 reported on Friday, officers from several jurisdictions ended up at the Sandhill Recreation area where Nelson was shot and killed by officers. Nelson had just been released on parole after serving time on a sex offense and is tied to another homicide in Tucson, Arizona.

Nice work by Carson Sheriff's Deputies. Way to stick with a chase and end it correctly. Those of us that know the details appreciate the integrity of every man involved!
