LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- New research from UC Davis is revealing the surprising way water circulates in Lake Tahoe.
Scientists have been dropping soda bottle-sized robots in the water and watching where they go.
In November, researchers dropped two dozen small drifting sensors across the lake to measure the currents.
Researchers say what they are learning will show them where invasive species like the Asian clam, or other hazards might spread to so environmental agencies can get ahead of them.
UC Davis researchers will be dropping more of those robotic drifters into Lake Tahoe later this month.
They say three are still out there floating from November.
