STATELINE, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency says the Basin is now primed for economic development after they just passed a regional plan update.
The new plan was signed off on by 12 of the 14 members. Former California lawmarker Byron Sher abstained. And California assembly speaker appointee Mara Bresick was the only person to vote no.
This is the first time in years the plan has been updated. And it's intended to provide guiding principles for development in the area over the next two decades.
The update is supposed to simplify the permitting process for new construction, make it easier to manage fuel sources to prevent wildfires and help fix runoff issues from older developments. However some people in public comment said the new update didn't do enough to protect the environment.
