CARSON CITY, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Bruce Gilbert, the new Executive Director of the Silver State Health Exchange, has a lot on his plate. But he believes he has the experience to tackle challenges and make sure people who want health insurance can get it.
Gilbert, an attorney who has spent the last 20 years working in the insurance industry and took on the task of leading the charge in Nevada after serving as a consultant in Texas, says his first order of business is to change the public's perception of the organization's priorities.
"Our biggest challenge, honestly, is getting everyone to understand that we're not really in the insurance business, and we're not really in the numbers business, we're in the people business," says Gilbert.
Also on his to-do list, transition Nevada's website over to the federal site for November's enrollment, and handling the backlog of sign ups for the Affordable Care Act.
We'll have more on our interview with Gilbert, including what is next for Nevada's shambled Silver State Exchange, on News 4 at 4 p.m.
