RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- During the final hours of negotiations Thursday night between drivers, mechanics and dispatchers for RTC RIDE and their employer MV Transportation, a tentative agreement was reached. This agreement ensures no disruption to service for the region’s transit service.

RTC was not a party to the negotiations. Negotiations involved the Teamsters Local 533 union representing the drivers, mechanics and dispatchers and MV Transportation. A federal mediator assisted during negotiations. According to a recent press release from RTC spokesperson Michael Moreno, the next step is for union members to ratify the agreement. Union leadership will recommend ratification to the membership and vote Sunday, August 10th.

Both sides negotiated in good faith since spring, according to the press release. An extension of one month was also agreed upon when the initial contract between MV Transportation and the union expired on June 30th. This gave the parties more time to reach agreement on a contract.

“We are very pleased both parties have reached an agreement,” said David Jickling, RTC Director of Public Transportation and Operations.

For information on negotiations contact Jennifer Wiley of MV Transportation at (972) 391-4603 or Jennifer.Wiley@mvtransit.com.
