RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Nevada may be the front-runner in the race to bring Tesla Motors' 5-billion-dollar battery factory to fruition.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports executives of the Palo Alto-based motor company may be talking to officials in Northern Nevada more than those of competing states: New Mexico, Texas and Arizona. The article also stated Northern Nevada has several advantages other sites may not, including a direct railroad link and closer proximity to Tesla's assembly plant in Fremont, Calif.
Officials from Tesla or the City of Reno, however, refused to comment.
When built, the factory could employ up to 6,500 people.
