RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- The 2014 youth homeless count came in low, but not for a good reason.

The survey said 18% of youth surveyed are sleeping outside, and about 50% are eating one meal or less a day. If these homeless youth were offered housing today, 84% said they would take it.

Although 44 surveys were filled out, surveyors said the cold and rainy weather is likely to blame. The director from the Nevada Youth Empowerment Project said when cold weather hits, they will room together and stay indoors when possible. In 2013, there were 61 surveys filled out.
