RENO, Nev. ( &KRNV) -- The local American Red Cross responds to a home fire every 48-hours. Volunteers are on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Now, they're looking for the community's help.

The "Fire Hurts, Red Cross Helps" campaign begins Thursday and the the goal is to raise $250,000. The price tag for the financial help Red Cross offers to victims, emergency food, shelter and clothing, is significant, and 100 percent of those proceeds stay in northern Nevada.

"When your home is destroyed by a fire and you have no place to go, no food, no clothing in some cases, no perscription medication, eye glasses, Red Cross is there to provide funding for emergency assistance so that money goes directly to help support our community." CEO, Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross Clara Andriola said.
