RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The San Francisco 49ers are taking on the Seattle Seahawks this weekend in the NFC championship game and thousands of people are already getting in on the action themselves by placing bets.

Whether you're a die hard fan or a casual playoff watcher, Atlantis Race and Sports Book Manager Steve Mikkelson said placing a bet is a way to up the excitement of any game.

"There's that part of hey look I was right on that game and I knew what was going on and I'm being rewarded," Mikkelson said. "It's always a little bit more fun when you have action on it."

With Nevada fan favorite Colin Kaepernick taking center stage, William Hill Director of Trading Nick Bogdanovich said more than 1600 people statewide have already bet on Sunday's game.

"It's going to be a monster handle by the time this weekend's said and done," Bogdanovich said. "These are the four best teams in the NFL and they're four of the most popular."

So far the odds are against Kaep and the 49ers remaining the NFC champs.

"Right now the Seahawks are a 3 point favorite," Mikkelson said.

"That means if you bet the Seahawks minus the three points, they're going to have to win by four or more for you to cash your ticket," Bogdanovich said.

But if you don't just want to bet on who will win, Mikkelson said there are plenty of other options.

"Who's gonna win the first half, the first half over and under, the game's over and under," he said.

If you're looking for the biggest straight bet payout, Bogdanovich said that's on the Patriots winning the AFC championship.

"For every dollar you bet you get two if New England could win Denver," he said. "That is the longest shot of the weekend."
