RENO, Nev. (MyNews4com & KRNV) -- The Claim Jumper Restaurant was the safest place to dine on Thursday night. They played host for the Tip-a-Cop event.

Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers were waiters. The tips they made will go to the Special Olympics of Northern Nevada.

Trooper Chuck Allen talked about how people from out of town are surprised with this event. "This is our 11th year, and it's great to come out and not only speak to the residents, but also the visitors to northern Nevada. We had a lot of people in from out-of-state tonight, and they were really impressed to see so many troopers volunteering their time for a great cause."

Allen said they raised over $2,100.
