UPDATE: 2:10PM - Barb Stapleton with NHP says The tractor trailer semi was traveling southbound when the second trailer’s right wheels caught the dirt on the shoulder of the highway and caused the second trailer to tip over onto its side.

The content of the trailer was an oil-based liquid that is flammable because it has to be kept at a higher than normal temperature.

Traffic was able to travel in the northbound lane while crews were on the scene, but they have temporarily stopped traffic for about an hour, while they have a tow truck on scene to tip the trailer back onto its wheels.

Stapleton says alcohol was not a factor and there were no injuries to anyone involved.

UPDATE: 12:05PM - The North Lyon County Fire Protection District reports that the highway has been opened to one lane with an escort through the crash site.

There has been no report of injuries or cause of the crash. NLCFPD expects traffic delays for several hours.

LYON COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The North Lyon County Fire Protection District is responding to a tractor trailer crash on Highway 50A south of the Reno-Fernley Raceway. Lyon County Sheriff's Office and Nevada Highway Patrol are also on the scene.

Lyon County Manager Jeffery Page says the trailer is leaking highly flammable oil.

Crews are attempting to stop traffic between Silver Springs and Fernley on Highway 50A until the crash is cleaned up.

The crash is still under investigation, according to NHP.

Highway 50 has been a road for wrecks. Many times the vehicle/truck is going to fast and not paying attention to the road. I pray the driver of the truck is safe and if a car was involved the driver of the car is alive and well. If the speed were slowed down it might not be life threatening!
