RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Nevada Departments of Public Safety and Transportation have released a report on the rise of traffic fatalities in rural nevada counties for the first half of 2014.

The report states that the number of statewide traffic deaths dropped slightly in the first half of 2014, compared to the same time last year. However, traffic fatalities in many rural Nevada counties saw a staggering increase, including Washoe County.

Preliminary numbers show that 124 traffic fatalities occurred on Nevada roads in the first half of 2014 through July 7, a decrease of nine deaths over the same time last year. Fatalities in Washoe County increased from 11 to 22 in the first half of 2014.
