TRUCKEE, Calif. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Putting your garbage out the night before may be more convenient, but it is going to cost you.

Truckee is cracking down on people who allow easy access to garbage by bears, dogs, racoons and other animals by adopting new rules.

It's similar to regulations at nearby Incline Village, and it's been successful there. Officials say bear complaints have dropped significantly since they upped their fines following a record year of problems in 2007.
