SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Further details have been released in the death and missing woman investigation in Spanish Springs.
According to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Gerald Mohl gave a statement that he and his wife, Colleen, had been visiting California on February 17, and that she died there. But Lieutenant Tom Green says it was a fabrication. "The story of her reported death was a conjured story on his part to her family. There's a lot more questions that we would've liked to ask Mr. Muhl, but unfortunately we can't do that now."
Authorities are still searching for any clues related to Colleen Mohl's whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, or Secret Witness.

SPANISH SPRINGS, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives are working an active death investigation and a missing person's case centered around the same area. Right now, detectives are not saying if the two are related.
The active death investigation is located near the 12000-block of Ocean View Drive. Detectives say a walker discovered a man's body on Monday. His identity, cause of death and time of death have not been released by the medical examiner. Detectives do not have any outstanding suspects in this case.
The death investigation may be linked with a missing woman from the same area. 56-year-old Colleen Muhl was last seen on February 17.
According to Lieutenant Tom Green, the missing person case has many unanswered questions. They are investigating a story from a family member, initially saying Muhl had passed away in California days ago. But, when other family members had more questions about what exactly happened to her, they called the medical examiner in California and the local law enforcement agency, both of which said they had no record.
The investigation is now focused on her whereabouts and safety. Lieutenant Green says people have said Colleen is a creature of habit, and just simply disappearing is out of her character. Colleen did not take her phone, credit cards or car with her.
If you have any information, you are asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office or Secret Witness.
