TRUCKEE, Calif. ( & KRNV) -- Two teenagers are accused of severely injuring a person in Truckee by shooting the victim with a BB gun. 18-year-old Kyle Mello and a 17-year-old juvenile have been charged with Assault Causing Great Bodily Harm.

According to Truckee Police, the teens broke into multiple homes and stole the gun from one of the Tahoe-Donner residences. They fired the BB gun in the downtown area, hitting a person near the heart on Thursday.

Their lucky the police didn't see them with the weapon as they would of been shot right on the spot. They should be charged with attempted murder as stated by "retired51" today's BB guns are very powerful and have and can kill as stated. He is a story of a 11 year old child that died just playing with his 16 year old uncle. "The coroner says Barnes died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, with the BB piercing his heart" --------------------------------------------------
