RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The University of Nevada's debate team celebrated being top dog on Monday. The debate team won the National Parliamentary Debate Association's National Championship, beating out 189 schools.
Jonathan McGuire and Kelly Brill have been ranked #2 in the nation individually. The duo also won the Robert S. Griffin medal, which is awarded to the top member of the Nevada debate team.
Team members, coaches and supporters came out to celebrate all their hard work. "It represents about 8 months of hard work and dedication of 24 students and about 6 or 7 volunteers and staff members," said Debate Coach and Director of Forensics Philip Sharp.
Sharp said he hopes next year's debate season will be just as successful.
