RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Today Reno's VA hospital celebrated 75 years of service and care to area veterans.

The day-long ceremony began Wednesday morning with a flag raising ceremony and several recognition events throughout the day. Some of the events included a flyover by a vintage OV-10 Bronco reconnaissance airplane and an interactive veteran healthcare and benefits expo.

Governor Sandoval attended the ceremonies and News 4 asked about the VA scandal brewing around the country and calls for VA Secretary Eric Shinseki to step down. The Governor said his own personal experience with our local VA tells a different story.

"I've been blessed by taking care of my father. I've seen it first-hand how well they take care of them and how dedicated the staff here is, and how much they treat them with dignity and honor. I know here in Reno they do the very best they can and they have my full support," Governor Sandoval said.
