Reno, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Vigilant Canine Services International has donated three dogs to the Pets for Vets program. Pets for Vets representatives recently picked up K-9s Kajo, Pito, and Volter from the VCSi Kennels. All three dogs will be trained and paired with military veterans.
The Pets for Vets program is dedicated to supporting veterans that have returned with physical and emotional injuries that have made it difficult to transition back to civilian life. They do this by training and pairing them with professionally trained companion dogs.
Their goal is to help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by pairing them with an animal that is specially selected to match his or her personality. Professional animal trainers teach the dogs good manners and to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle. Training can also include desensitization to wheel chairs or crutches as well as recognizing panic or anxiety disorder behaviors.
VCSi’s CEO Buck Dikes said “We are truly honored to support Pets for Vets and we appreciate the work they do to support our veterans. The veteran’s lives that are touched and changed by these animals are very grateful and we are thrilled that we can show our appreciation and support for our veterans.”
Vigilant Canine Services International, LLC has been providing canine services and supporting the freedom efforts around the world since 2007. VCSi also provides K-9s and training to law enforcement agencies all over the US.
