DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Douglas County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a shooting incident that happened Saturday, Apr. 20.

The incident happened around 11:20pm in a residence on the 1300 block of Waterloo Lane.

DCSO Deputies say Gardnerville resident Rianilee Belles (38) suffered a bullet wound to her abdomen, and Rianilee’s brother, Benjamin Dupreez, (35), had multiple contusions on his head.

DCSO says Rainilee’s husband, Travis Belles, (38), and Dupreez had been verbally fighting. During the argument, Dupreez reportedly showed a handgun to protect himself and his sister from Travis. Dupreez and Travis struggled over the gun when the handgun discharged, and the round hit Rianilee in the abdomen.

DCSO says the investigation is still ongoing.

Rianilee and Dupreez were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
