MINERAL COUNTY, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- The name of the victim has been released in the deadly motorcycle crash Sept. 29 involving a horse on U.S. Highway 6 in Mineral County.

Nevada Highway Patrol says 29-year-old Marco Lanz from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was riding a blue 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on the two-lane highway with his passenger, 30-year-old Maria C. Ferrer from the same city.

NHP says the couple was leading the way as they and other family members and friends were on a motorcycle trip with a total of four motorcycles traveling together as a group. A horse was apparently running across the highway and collided with the blue Harley-Davidson and ejected both riders. Lanz died at the scene while Ferrer was transported by ground ambulance and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Her current medical condition was not known this morning.

None of the three other motorcyclists collided and were able to stop safely along the shoulder of the highway and render aid. The horse was also killed.
