RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- Volunteers are needed in several different areas for the 2014-2015 school year in Washoe County.

On Tuesday, volunteers who are college students in the summer Americorps/Vista program, helped staff members and students register at McQueen High School.

Now the district is asking for volunteers of all capacities to help with the upcoming school year.

Volunteers are needed in all grade levels, especially at the high school and middle school level. The AVID program at Sparks High School and Sparks Middle School really need volunteers.

Volunteers are also needed to academic support, helping with teen moms and helping at school events.

"We need you, we need our community. We always have needed our community, but right now more than ever we need our community to give us the kind of support to make sure the kids are getting what they need out of their education," said Volunteer Services Coordinator Lisa-Marie Lightfoot.

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, you can call (775) 348-0346, or visit their website.
