RENO, Nev. (Mynews4.com & KRNV) - According to recent Public Policy Polling numbers, there is wide expectation of voter fraud in the presidential race in multiple states and on both sides of the isle.
Some PPP numbers from the past weekend show at three weeks out, voters from both political parties are ready to blame voter fraud if their candidate loses. In Ohio, 62 percent of Republicans think Democrats will engage in voter fraud to make sure President Obama wins. Likewise, 50 percent of Democrats believe the GOP will do the same to ensure a Romney victory.
Luanne Cutler, Administrative Assistant at Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office says the line has been consistently out the door as time to register to vote runs out. "They are turning out in record numbers," she said. Cutler says voter turnout is always high during presidential election years but this year the numbers could break records. And with high registration volume come the rumors that voter fraud could become a problem for results on Election Day.
"I am seeing more out of state groups and more organizations than I have ever seen before," said Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller. Miller says there are safe guards in place in Nevada and they will prosecute anyone who attempts voter fraud. "We've definitely seen some complaints. It's a hotly contested election and that doesn’t surprise me," he said.
Back at the Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office, the line gets longer as time ticks down on the last day to register to vote. Cutler says they have not had any voter fraud issues in Washoe County to this point. “There's a system in place where our files back up against the DMV and Social Security files," said Cutler. "We make sure one person gets one vote," she said.
