WCSD meets with Reno-Sparks Tribal Council

WADSWORTH, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees held a historic meeting Tuesday night.

The meeting was at Natchez Elementary School in Wadsworth with the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony. Tribal Council members and the Board of Trustees were able to talk with each other about the participation of Native-American students.

Lynn Manning, Coordinator of the Indian Education Program, talked about what they would like to see more of in their community. "The community here would like to see more support services for their community, and that the school is properly staffed and properly equipped to serve the students in the community."

More than 150 people attended the meeting.

Correction: The meeting was on the Pyramid Lake Paiute reservation, not the Reno Sparks Indian Colony.
